Duties of Commander

Abbreviated from Air Navigation Order Part 10

Pre-flight action by commander of aircraft other than EU-OPS aeroplanes

The Pilot in command is responsible that the:

  • flight can be made safely, taking into account route and weather info
  • equipment that must be carried under the ANO is carried and fit for use
  • aircraft is fit for intended flight – and the certificate of maintenance review is in force
  • Weight and balance is in safe limits
  • Sufficient fuel and oil including contingencies are carried
  • Pre-flight checks are complete
