Founded in 1991 by Bruce Abbot, Bateleur Aviation aims to provide quality one-to-one flight training from their base at Lashenden Aerodrome, formerly known as Headcorn Aerodrome.

Bruce has over ten thousand flying instruction hours and was previously Chief Flying Instructor for Weald Air Services Multi-engine training (CAA approved) and now instructs Multi-engine aircraft at EFG, Biggin Hill. He also teaches PPL theory and IMC theory, as well as modules on the B.Sc. course in Aviation Management and Operations at London Metropolitan University from 2001 to 2013.

Lashenden Aerodrome provides a variety of aircraft available for training, plus a generally informal atmosphere. Just 15 minutes from junction 8 on the M20 and about an hour from London by road, Headcorne offers access to uncongested airspace both in the South East of England and on the continent. Where necessary, multi-engine and night rating training is conducted at Biggin Hill, Lydd, Rochester or Damyns Hall.
