The Humber Flying Club started business on the 30th. September 1982 as the Humber Flying Group. At that time, there was a serious need for an economical training organization away from the entrenched operations who charged what they thought and then doubled it.

Initially the Humber Flying Group had 6 members flying the privately owned Cessna 150 belonging to the CFI, Capt. John Greenfield. Little did we know what was to happen. Running the enterprise as a Group soon showed the limitations and it became clear that there was insufficient room for progressing any further. The membership rapidly expanded and soon it was necessary to form a limited company to provide for more expansion in the future.

The Cessna 172 we now use for professional training was purchased in 1985 and has been a good workhorse ever since. Another Cessna 150 was purchased in 1988. The Simulator was purchased in 1997 and the Piper PA44 Seminole in November 2000. All the aircraft and Simulator are owned by Capt. Greenfield.

The Company has weathered the recession over the recent years and emerged stronger through good housekeeping and prudent financial constraints.

More recently on the advice of our accountant, we have opened a CLIENTS ACCOUNT at the Bank similar to that type of account run by solicitors to look after clients large deposits until the training is completed.
